Most professional portrait photographers have their own style, their own way of approaching their craft. I know that I do. But does this mean, then, that all of my photos look the same? Far from it.
I shoot both outdoors and indoors. Both on location and in the studio. And I work in both color and black and white. So what characterizes my work? It's the way I work with natural light. Unlike many photographers, my preference (when shooting outdoors) is to work with direct, natural sunlight. Direct light is more challenging than working under overcast skies, or in open shade with fill flash as many photographers prefer to do, But the results, I believe, are often much more dramatic. And hopefully, the samples you'll see here on this website will make you a believer, too.
Also, keep in mind that even when I AM working with artificial light sources, as I do in the studio, my goal generally is to mimic natural light as closely as possible. This approach, combined with my state-of-the-art background system, makes my studio portraits as distinctive as my outdoor on-location work. And in some cases, perhaps even more so.
