Online Proofs

Welcome to Kirk Shepherd Photography's online proofing page.

After we've completed a shoot, I will download, back-up and sort all of the photos in my studio. Usually, I'll edit the 200 to 300 photos I took down to two- or three-dozen, which I will present to you as proofs. If at all possible, I encourage you to come in and see the proofs on the 150" high-definition digital rear projection screen in my studio. Trust me, you've never seen a picture of your child (or your family or your pet, etc.) until you've seen them 7-ft. high by 10-ft wide!

If coming into the studio to see the proofs isn't convenient, I can also do online proofs for you. Your photos will be displayed on a private web page, which I'll send you a link to in an email. All you have to do is click on the link and you'll be able to see the photos instantly. (You can also forward the link to the grandparents, etc., for them to enjoy - and order prints from.)

Sample Proofs

I've found it's helpful to show a set of sample proofs to potential clients, so that you can better visualize the results you might expect from a portrait session with Kirk Shepherd Photography. Here's an online proof page I did for one of my clients in the fall of 2005. (They have graciously allowed me to share it with you.)

The session took place at one of my favorite locations, Lake Katherine, a nature preserve just southwest of Chicago on a pleasant summer evening. I took almost exactly 200 photographs during the approximately 1-1/2 hour session, including individual shots of each of the three kids and various combinations of the kids together. We even managed to squeeze in a couple of shots with the parents, too. All in all, it was a pretty typical shoot. (See my Contact page for directions to Lake Katherine.)

And here's a second set of proofs from an in-studio shoot with a beautiful little girl who had just celebrated her first birthday. (Again, my thanks to her parents for allowing me to share these with you.)

As you can see, her mom brought along a couple of different outfits and I used several different backgrounds on my rear-projection screen, so we ended up with a nice variety of photos to choose from.

Print Ordering Information

I'm confident you'll find that my print prices are very reasonable. They're considerably less, in fact, than the prices charged by many (if not most) experienced portrait photographers. The reason my prices are structured this way is because my clients tend to want to order several different pictures, instead of multiples of only one or two images. My lower prices make this possible. You can download a PDF of my Print Price Sheet here.

Custom Framing

Although I don't do framing myself, I have an association with The Heritage Gallery (1915 W. 103rd St. in Chicago) and they offer a 20% discount on any custom framing of my photographs. Plus, they do exceptional quality work.
